The day they call Valentine's.

Three days ago, it was Valentine's Day. Nothing special to share. I did not receive roses and chocolates. No fluffy bears with hearts for me, no candlelit dinner. Not that I'm complaining but.... nobody thinks I deserve any of those, eh? (half kidding.)

Valentine's Day, year 2004. That, to date, is the most awesome Valentine's Day I ever had. I was in college, in my first year of my Nursing degree. My classes started in the afternoon. At 1PM. As I walked in the corridor of our FDT Building, I saw my friend Ace, holding a handful of roses, individually wrapped in fancy plastic and red ribbons. And I, was holding a dozen of brownies.

We went to the PGT Building together. He put his bag in the seat next to mine, and immediately left the room. He gave the most special, long-stemmed rose to Pam. He came back to the room five minutes before the class started. He gave every girl in our class a rose each. I was surprised! Nobody does that! He gave us (his girl friends- Kat, Mich, Mayeth and I) a red rose each, chocolate bar and our birthstone rosary. One of the clubs in the College of Nursing was then facilitating a Valentine's Day special. They set up a board where you can write or post your special greetings for your special someone. I think none of my friends cared to write something in there. Hahahah! However, Jay (with Kat) came inside the room with balloons in his hands. Kat obliged Jay to buy us balloons! We ate the brownies I bought them in the cafe, where we shared cups of melon and buko juice, served with heartfelt stories and blasting laughter.

In the evening, I spent the night with my cousins and family. We ate at Dencio's Capitol Hills where we had an awesome view of the Quezon City night. A band serenaded the guests and a guy proposed to his girl.

Let's admit it. All girls want to feel special on this day. All girls want to have a candlelit dinner, dress up, hold a bouquet of roses and wear special perfume once in their lives.

Yeah. I admit. I want that, too.
